I returned to the Karst region. Twenty years had passed. I found an abandoned house in the woods, next to a lonely railway line. Inside, there is water and there is an echo. Nature is slowly taking the house back into its green embrace.

Hidden in dry grass among fragrant pines, the house is like something out of a dream, strange and somewhat eerie. It invites you among the passing trains, walkers, jackals and deer. It invites you in, into the music that finds its place between accepting and letting go. It invites you in, into a song that resonates between light and dark and has a home “here inside”.
I dedicate this album to Rubens.

‘Spaces’ are a series of live recordings that strive to capture the synergy between performer and space, following the simple premise of “One performer, one instrument, one space.” They take place mainly in environments that are in one way or another isolated, hidden or forgotten from the outside world, but are much part of it nonetheless.

The recordings are made entirely live, without an audience, within a day or two. We capture the space with a stereo pair of microphones, while the performer is listened to by a few microphones up close. We use field recorders instead of computers, allowing us to record even in more inaccessible and remote locations. Post-production and sound processing are minimal.
